A Fight in School: A Short Script
Characters:
- Liam: A nervous, smaller student.
- Ethan: A larger, more aggressive student.
- Ms. Evans: A teacher, trying to maintain order.
- Chloe: A bystander, Liam's friend.
Scene: A school hallway between classes. Liam is walking, clutching his books. Ethan and his friends block his path.
(Ethan and his friends laugh and jostle Liam.)
Ethan: Hey, loser. What's the rush?
Liam: (Stammering) I...I've got to get to class.
Ethan: (Grabbing Liam's books) Not so fast. You owe me an apology.
Liam: (Confused) Apology? For what?
Ethan: For… existing. You know, being so… pathetic. (Ethan throws Liam's books to the ground.)
Liam: Hey! Leave my books alone!
(Ethan shoves Liam. Liam stumbles, but manages to remain on his feet.)
Chloe: (Rushing forward) Ethan, stop it!
Ethan: (Ignoring Chloe) Come on, squirt. Let’s settle this.
(Ethan takes a swing at Liam. Liam ducks, and a brief, clumsy fight ensues. It's more pushing and shoving than actual fighting. Ms. Evans appears, breaking up the scuffle.)
Ms. Evans: Enough! Ethan! Liam! What is going on here?!
(Ms. Evans separates them. Liam is clearly shaken but unharmed. Ethan looks defiant.)
Ms. Evans: To the principal’s office, both of you! Now!
(Ms. Evans escorts them towards the principal's office. Chloe picks up Liam's scattered books.)
Chloe: (To Liam) Are you okay?
Liam: (Shaking his head) Yeah, I’m fine. Just… shaken up.
(Chloe puts a comforting hand on Liam's arm. They walk away, leaving the hallway relatively empty. The sound of Ms. Evans’ voice is heard in the distance as she lectures them.)
(End Scene)
Note: This is a bare-bones script. It can be expanded to include more dialogue, backstory, and exploration of the characters' motivations. The level of violence can also be adjusted depending on the intended audience and purpose. This version focuses on the initial conflict and the intervention of a teacher, highlighting the immediate aftermath. It avoids detailed descriptions of the fighting itself to remain appropriate for a broad audience and avoid potentially harmful content.
